What is Assisted Living?
These facilities provide hands on assistance to older adults who need help with activities of daily living (ADLs). These facilities frequently help their residents a variety of services including medication management, bathing, dressing, grooming, transfer assistance (i.e. help from chair to wheelchair), meal preparation, transportation, social activities, etc.
What is the Cost of Assisted Living?
Cost varies greatly from community to community. On the low end, Assisted Living facilities in the Omaha, NE area start at around $3,000.00 per month with some facilities starting closer to $6,000/month. We strongly believe that every older adult should have a trusted advisor by her/his side as they weigh their options. This is imperative given the cost of these services. We have resources at our disposal that will save you time, money, and stress.
Are there any benefits for Veterans?
While Assisted Living is expensive, additional resources are available to help you pay for it. Veterans and/or their spouses frequently receive benefits for Assisted Living care. The most common benefit is the “Aid and Attendance Pension.” This benefit provides the Veteran and/or their spouses with financial support to pay for their care. Our Advisors can help you determine whether or not you are eligible for this benefit.
What happens when you run out of money?
Another benefit for older adults is Medicaid Waiver. Some Assisted Living Facilities will allow you to use Medicaid Waiver, as a payor source, AFTER you have lived there for a specified period of time (i.e. 2+ years).
